Oversized vehicles in unincorporated Pinal County are governed by county zoning. Heavy trucks (19,500 lbs GVWR or more) are banned in residential districts and limited in rural ones, while large RVs and trailers must be screened behind a solid 7-foot wall or fence in a side or rear yard.
Pinal County's code addresses oversized vehicles by type. Heavy commercial trucks rated 19,500 lbs GVWR or more (2.185.055) are prohibited in residential zoning districts and capped in rural districts at one per licensed driver, two per parcel. Large recreational vehicles and utility trailers (2.185.060, 2.185.061) may be stored outside only on a dustproof surface in a screened side or rear yard, behind a solid wall, fence or gate at least seven feet tall, and must keep a 3-foot clearance from buildings and leave a 4-foot clear path front-to-rear. On smaller lots the outdoor count is limited to one; larger lots scale up. Front-yard staging is limited to 72 hours per week.
Storing an oversized vehicle contrary to zoning is a Class 2 misdemeanor under A.R.S. 11-808, each day a separate offense, with civil penalties up to $750 per day possible.
