Oversized vehicles like RVs, boats, and semi-trucks are covered by the county Land Development Code: an unoccupied, licensed RV or boat may be stored beside your home, while semis/trailers must be titled and operable or hidden from view, with a max of two screened per parcel.
Santa Rosa County has no separate oversized-vehicle length or weight ordinance, but two Land Development Code provisions govern large vehicles in residential districts. LDC § 4.02.03(G)(2) allows storage of an unoccupied, fully-licensed, highway-ready RV, boat, or utility trailer on the same lot as the principal residence. LDC § 9.03.01(C) requires that licensable vehicles — expressly including semi-trucks and trailers — either meet two of three criteria (titled/plated, operable, intact) or be garaged or hidden completely from public view in residential zoning districts, with a maximum of two screened outside a garage per parcel. Repair shops, car lots, junkyards, and salvage yards are exempt. Municipalities apply their own oversized-vehicle limits.
Non-compliant oversized vehicles must be screened, garaged, or removed; county Code Enforcement issues correction notices, then daily fines via the Code Enforcement Board.
