Allen permits residential garage sales with a free permit from the city. Maximum of 4 sales per address per calendar year, each lasting no more than 3 consecutive days. Sales must occur between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM.
Garage sale permits are issued at no charge through the Allen Community Enhancement office or online. The permit application requires the address, sale dates, and property owner contact. Items sold must be the personal property of the household (not purchased for resale). Merchandise and signage may not be placed in the public right-of-way, on utility poles, or on traffic signs.
Operating without a permit or exceeding 4 sales per year: citation 100 to 500 dollars. Illegal signage: removal plus 50 to 200 dollar fine per sign.
