Perris, CA Property Maintenance: Garage Sale Rules (2026)

The City of Perris regulates garage and yard sales through Perris Municipal Code Chapter 5.32 (Yard Sales), administered alongside the Code Enforcement Division. Per the City, each Perris address is allowed three yard sales per calendar year. A single yard sale may run for one to three consecutive days, and sales may only be held Friday through Sunday between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. A permit is required: the City lists the cost as $7 per permit, or $15 prepaid for three permits to be used before December 31 of that year. Permits can be obtained at Perris City Hall during normal office hours. The City also notes that a free yard sale needing no permit can be held during a specified weekend within the Citywide Clean-Up period. These limits are designed to keep yard sales from operating as ongoing unpermitted retail uses in residential neighborhoods, and selling outside the allowed days, hours, or annual limit, or without a permit, is a code violation. Signage and the goods offered are also subject to the City's broader code (for example, sale items and signs must not create a nuisance or be left out after the sale).
