New Hampshire sets no specific number of hours or days of advance notice for landlord entry. RSA 540-A:3, V prohibits a landlord from willfully entering without prior consent except for emergency repairs, and where entry is needed for repairs the landlord must give notice "adequate under the circumstances."
Under RSA 540-A:3, V, "no landlord shall willfully enter into the premises of the tenant without prior consent, other than to make emergency repairs." The statute does not fix a 24-hour or 48-hour advance-notice number for routine entry; instead, where entry is needed to make repairs, the landlord must provide "notice which is adequate under the circumstances." A narrow exception in RSA 540-A:3, V-b requires 48 hours' written notice specifically for bed bug inspection or treatment. RSA 540-A:3 also bars lockouts and willful interruption of utility services other than through proper judicial process. So while New Hampshire honestly imposes no general fixed-hour entry-notice rule, willful entry without consent (outside emergencies) is a prohibited practice subject to civil penalties.
Violation of RSA 540-A:3 is a prohibited practice; the tenant may seek injunctive relief and damages of $1,000 or actual damages (whichever is greater) per RSA 540-A:4, plus costs and attorney's fees.
