Signs are prohibited on utility poles, traffic signs, street trees, or public rights-of-way. Islip allows up to 2 square feet. Southampton requires signs removed within 24 hours of sale conclusion. Handheld signs and sandwich boards are prohibited along Sunrise Highway and major county roads under Suffolk County Highway regulations. Violators face sign removal by town highway department plus fine.
