Rogers's sign code does not list 'garage sale signs' as a separate category; they are handled under the general temporary-sign provisions of the Unified Development Code (Sec. 5.8). Temporary signs are permitted for up to ten business days, with one ten-business-day extension on request. Signs may not be placed in city rights-of-way or on utility poles, traffic signals, or street signs.
The Rogers Unified Development Code sign standards (Sec. 5.8) regulate temporary signage rather than calling out garage- or yard-sale signs specifically. Under the temporary-sign provisions (Sec. 5.8.11.5), a temporary sign is valid 'for up to ten (10) business days,' and one ten-business-day extension is allowed upon request β a window that comfortably covers a weekend garage sale. The general sign rules that apply to political and other temporary signs also constrain placement: signs are not allowed in city rights-of-way, on bridges, utility poles, traffic signals, or street signs, and posting on private property requires the owner's consent. For comparison, the code does separately address residential real-estate signs (Sec. 5.8.7.13), limiting an on-site residential sign to six square feet without a rider (eight with riders) and six feet in height, with removal required within 72 hours of closing β useful context for what the city considers a reasonable small residential temporary sign. Because garage-sale signs are not separately defined, the safest approach is to keep directional sale signs small, on private property with the owner's permission, out of the public right-of-way and off poles and traffic devices, and to take them down promptly after the sale. Arkansas does not set statewide garage-sale-sign rules, so the Rogers sign code controls. Confirm any size or duration questions with the city's sign administrator.
Garage-sale or directional signs left up beyond the temporary-sign window, placed in city rights-of-way, or attached to utility poles, traffic signals, or street signs can be removed by the city and cited under the sign code. Signs on private property without the owner's consent are also prohibited.
