Orland Park, IL Sign Regulations: Holiday Displays (2026)

Orland Park does not specifically regulate residential holiday displays such as Christmas lights, inflatable decorations, Halloween yard decorations, or seasonal religious displays. Decorations are treated as temporary residential features. Electrical safety rules apply, including use of outdoor-rated extension cords, GFCI protection on outdoor outlets, and avoiding overloaded circuits. Decorations must not obstruct sight triangles at intersections or driveways. Brilliant displays that draw crowds and create traffic congestion in residential neighborhoods may attract police attention if they create traffic hazards. Decorations should be removed within a reasonable period after the holiday; displays left up indefinitely may eventually be cited under property maintenance rules. HOA covenants in many Orland Park subdivisions including Crystal Tree and Siena impose specific timing rules on holiday decorations (commonly allowing November 1 through January 15 for winter holidays) and may restrict decoration types.
