Aurora and Centennial maintain no-solicitation registries and enforce posted No Soliciting signs. Registered addresses are distributed to permitted commercial solicitors. Violators face $100 to $500 fines. Registry does not apply to political, religious, or nonprofit canvassing which are First Amendment protected.
Several Arapahoe County cities maintain no-solicitation registries or enforce posted signs. Aurora City Code ยง98-45 requires solicitors to respect both a posted No Soliciting sign at the residence and a city-maintained no-solicitation list (operated through Aurora Police Department). Residents can register online or by phone. Centennial Municipal Code ยง9-16 similarly recognizes posted signs as legal prohibition of commercial solicitation. Littleton and Englewood follow comparable frameworks. Colorado state law C.R.S. ยง6-1-304 (door-to-door sales) allows a 3-day cooling-off period for any sale over $25. The no-knock protections do NOT apply to political canvassers, religious missionaries (per Watchtower v. Village of Stratton, 536 U.S. 150 (2002)), government census workers, or nonprofit charitable canvassers registered with the Colorado Secretary of State. Permit revocation is the most serious consequence for solicitors who repeatedly ignore registry listings or posted signs. Residents can also report to Aurora Police non-emergency or Centennial's code enforcement hotline.
Ignoring posted No Soliciting sign: $50 to $250 first offense. Visiting registered address: $100 to $500 in Aurora. Repeat violations: permit revocation. Criminal trespass (C.R.S. ยง18-4-503) if refusing to leave.
