Maryland Statewide Rule
Maryland has no statewide rent cap and no statute preempting local rent control, so home-rule counties and municipalities may adopt their own rent stabilization. Several have: Takoma Park (long-standing), Montgomery County (2023), and Prince George's County (2023). Statewide, landlords may otherwise set rents by the market and lease.
