South Dakota Statewide Rule
South Dakota has NO statewide mandate requiring residential or commercial EV charging installation. EV charging stations are subject to the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70) Article 625 as adopted by the locally enforced electrical code. Local ordinances may impose stricter standards under SDCL 9-29-1 or SDCL 6-12 charter authority. South Dakota DOT administers federal NEVI-funded corridor charging deployment.
