Tennessee Statewide Electrical Permits for Solar Installations

Under T.C.A. 68-102-143 and Department of Commerce and Insurance rules, all electrical work, including solar PV interconnection, requires a permit and inspection. The State Fire Marshal's Electrical Inspection Section provides permits where local jurisdictions do not. Tennessee has adopted the National Electrical Code, including Article 690 governing solar PV systems. TVA and local power companies require executed interconnection agreements before energizing.
