Connecticut requires Electronic Nicotine Delivery System (ENDS) retailers to hold a state DCP cigarette/tobacco dealer license and follow age 21, packaging, and tax rules. Bridgeport vape shops also must comply with city zoning and building code requirements.
Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection licenses cigarette and tobacco dealers under CT Β§12-285, which since 2019 includes electronic nicotine delivery system retailers and vapor product sellers. Bridgeport vape shops must obtain the DCP dealer license, post it visibly, collect Connecticut's vapor products tax (40 percent of wholesale price for open-system liquids), and comply with packaging child-resistance and labeling rules. Local zoning may restrict new vape retail locations near schools or in particular districts under Bridgeport zoning amendments. Bridgeport also enforces general business registration and signage rules. Self-service displays of vape products are restricted; products must be behind the counter or in age-restricted areas. State and federal flavor restrictions for cartridge-based vapes also apply.
Operating without a DCP dealer license, selling to minors, missing tax payments, failing packaging rules, or violating Bridgeport zoning setbacks can result in license revocation, fines, and tax penalties.
