Conroe requires tree replacement when protected trees are removed during development under Chapter 102. New residential homes must preserve or plant at least 3 trees meeting minimum caliper requirements. The urban forester reviews all tree preservation plans.
Under Conroe's Chapter 102 vegetation ordinance, when protected trees (6 inches or greater in diameter) are removed during development, replacement plantings are required. Each new one- or two-family dwelling must have at least 3 trees: one in the front yard at minimum 4-inch caliper and two remaining trees at minimum 3-inch caliper. Small growth species require 2.5-inch caliper minimum. All landscape and tree preservation plans must include an irrigation plan designed and sealed by a State of Texas licensed irrigator (except for undisturbed natural areas). The urban forester reviews compliance.
Failure to meet tree replacement requirements may delay certificate of occupancy.
