Thousand Oaks follows Calleguas Municipal Water District and Las Virgenes MWD restrictions limiting outdoor irrigation to assigned days and restricting watering to before 9 a.m. or after 6 p.m.
Thousand Oaks gets imported water through Calleguas Municipal Water District (Metropolitan Water District wholesaler) plus local groundwater. During declared drought stages, watering schedules are limited to two or three days per week assigned by address, with no irrigation between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. to reduce evaporation. Runoff onto sidewalks or streets is prohibited year-round under California Water Code 365 and local rules. Hose nozzles with shutoffs are required for car washing. Restaurant water-on-request rules also apply statewide under State Water Board emergency regulations.
Warning first violation. Subsequent fines $100 to $500 per occurrence. Persistent violators face flow restrictors installed on service lines.
