Arizona, not Pinal County, restricts exotic pets. State wildlife rules (A.A.C. R12-4-406) prohibit possessing restricted live wildlife such as venomous reptiles, big cats, bears, wolves and many primates without a special license.
Pinal County has no standalone exotic-pet ordinance; possession of wild and exotic animals is governed statewide by the Arizona Game and Fish Commission. Arizona Administrative Code R12-4-406 lists "restricted live wildlife" that may not be imported, transported or possessed without a special license or lawful exemption, including venomous reptiles, nonnative big cats, bears, wolves and many primates. Common domesticated pets and unrestricted species (for example, many parrots, ferrets are prohibited, and certain reptiles) follow the state list. Inside Pinal cities, the municipal animal code may add further limits. Because the state list controls, always check the Game and Fish restricted-wildlife rule before acquiring an unusual animal.
Possessing restricted live wildlife without a license is a state wildlife violation enforced by Arizona Game and Fish; animals may be seized and criminal or civil penalties imposed.
