Montgomery County has no general wildlife-feeding ban, but Ohio Division of Wildlife rules govern deer baiting and feeding, and it is unlawful to feed deer on state wildlife-division lands without permission. Cities and Five Rivers MetroParks may prohibit feeding.
There is no countywide wildlife-feeding ordinance, but several rules apply. Ohio Division of Wildlife regulations (OAC 1501:31) allow deer feeding and baiting on private property only outside disease-surveillance areas, and prohibit scattering feed to attract deer or wild birds on wildlife-division lands without written permission from the wildlife chief. Wildlife officials advise leaving only 48 hours' worth of feed. Five Rivers MetroParks and individual municipalities frequently ban feeding deer, waterfowl and other wildlife in parks and residential areas. Check your city code and any MetroParks-specific rule before feeding.
Feeding wildlife on state wildlife-division land without permission violates OAC 1501:31; municipal and MetroParks feeding bans carry local citations and fines.
