Cobb County Code Chapter 10 addresses wildlife feeding as a nuisance when it attracts animals that damage property or threaten public safety. Intentional feeding of coyotes is prohibited — urban coyote populations have increased in East Cobb (Johnson Ferry, Roswell Road corridors) and West Cobb subdivisions bordering Kennesaw Mountain. Deer feeding in residential areas creates vehicle collision hazards and is discouraged though enforcement focuses on baiting for hunting under Georgia DNR rules (O.C.G.A. §27-3-9 — baiting restrictions). Feeding raccoons, opossums, and feral cats attracts rabies-vector species and violates nuisance provisions. Bird feeders are generally allowed but may be required to be removed if they attract bears (occasional sightings in North Cobb) or create rodent problems.
