Fire service recall systems must be tested quarterly. Modernization of existing elevators must comply with ASME A17.3 for existing installations.
Operating without a valid permit: up to $70,000 fine. Safety deficiencies found during inspection result in orders to correct. Failure to maintain elevators may result in civil penalties of $7,000 per violation and potential shutdown.
