Can my Appleton STR guests park on the street overnight?

Not without permission. Appleton bans on-street parking from 2:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. citywide. Guests can request up to seven nights of overnight parking permission per calendar month through the Appleton Police Department's online portal or by calling (920) 832-5500, and permission is automatically void during snow emergencies.

Can I let guests park on my front lawn or the grass terrace?

No. Section 19-91 of the Appleton Municipal Code limits residential parking to a defined driveway running from the street to a garage, carport or rear-yard parking area, and prohibits parking on terraces (the strip between sidewalk and street). Front-yard parking outside the defined driveway is a Public Works enforcement issue separate from any tourist rooming house license review.

Can my Kaukauna STR guests park on the street overnight?

It depends on the season. From December 1 through March 31, no parking is allowed on any city street between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. citywide; violators receive citations and may be towed during snow emergencies. Outside that window, vehicles may park on any non-posted city street for up to 24 hours. Guests staying longer should rotate vehicles or use off-street parking on your driveway.

Can guests at my Kaukauna Airbnb park a boat trailer or RV out front?

Not overnight. A separate Kaukauna ordinance prohibits parking trailers and campers on city streets overnight throughout the entire city at any time of year - the rule does not lift in summer. Guests arriving with a boat, jet ski trailer or RV must park it off-street on your property in compliance with zoning setbacks.

Does Wisconsin Statute 66.1014 prevent Kaukauna from enforcing parking rules against my STR?

No. Wis. Stat. 66.1014 prevents Kaukauna from prohibiting rentals of seven consecutive days or longer, but it expressly preserves the city's authority over parking, traffic, noise and other health and safety regulations. The winter overnight ban and the trailer rule apply to STR guests exactly as they apply to long-term residents.
