Mead Valley FAQ
Do I need a permit to run an Airbnb in unincorporated Riverside County?
Yes. Ordinance No. 927 requires a Short Term Rental Certificate from the Planning Department before you rent or even advertise the property, and a separate certificate is required for each dwelling. This applies to unincorporated areas only, not to incorporated cities like the City of Riverside, Palm Springs, or Temecula, which have their own rules.
Can any property become a short-term rental?
No. The dwelling must be a legal, permitted residential structure. Hotels, bed-and-breakfast inns, cottage inns, RVs, tents, treehouses, yurts, and other non-habitable structures are excluded under Section 5, and properties in Idyllwild and Wine Country are subject to caps and a lottery.
