North Las Vegas FAQ

Do I have to remove my backyard lawn by 2027?

Not if it is single-family residential functional turf (a yard your kids actually play on). AB 356 targets ornamental non-functional grass in medians, commercial, and HOA common areas.

What plants work best for a low-water NLV yard?

Mesquite and palo verde for shade, desert willow and Texas ranger for color, creosote and brittlebush for structure, and desert marigold and blackfoot daisy for groundcover.

Paradise FAQ

Can my HOA force me to keep green grass in my front yard?

No. NRS 116.330 preempts HOA rules that prohibit drought-tolerant landscaping. The HOA may require reasonable design standards but cannot force live turf.

Does the SNWA rebate cover new construction?

Generally no. The Water Smart Landscapes rebate is intended for conversions of existing turf to desert landscape. New construction is governed by Title 30 plant list rules.
