Pittsburg vs San Ramon

Residents receive three color-coded carts from Pittsburg Disposal: gray for trash, blue for recycling, and green for organics/food scraps. Carts must stay closed, never overfilled, and be kept clean. Extra bags outside the cart are not collected unless the resident has purchased an overflow tag.

San Ramon residents must use Waste Management-issued carts for garbage, recycling, and organics. Carts cannot exceed capacity, overflow lids, or contain prohibited items. Extra garbage requires an overage tag or larger service tier. Damaged carts are replaced free; lost or stolen carts may incur a replacement fee.
