Conroe repealed its juvenile curfew ordinance in September 2023 in response to Texas House Bill 1819, which prohibits cities from enforcing curfew ordinances except during emergency management situations.
The Conroe City Council unanimously voted to repeal its juvenile curfew ordinance in September 2023. This action was taken in response to Texas HB 1819, signed into law in 2023, which prohibits municipalities from adopting or enforcing juvenile curfew ordinances. As Conroe interim City Attorney Mike Garner explained, juvenile curfews can now only be enforced in times of emergency management. The previous Conroe curfew had applied to persons under 17 with hours of 11 PM-6 AM Sunday-Thursday and 12:01 AM-6 AM on weekends.
Ordinance repealed September 2023. No violations currently applicable except during declared emergencies.
