Franklin County does not impose a countywide juvenile curfew, but most municipalities have adopted curfews under ORC 2151.21. Columbus (Code 2329.01) sets curfew at 11 PM for minors under 13 and midnight for ages 13-17, with school night variations. Exceptions apply for work, school events, and travel with parents.
Columbus curfew: Sunday-Thursday 11 PM to 4:30 AM for under 13, midnight to 4:30 AM for 13-17. Friday-Saturday midnight to 4:30 AM for under 13, 1 AM to 4:30 AM for 13-17. Exceptions: accompanied by parent or guardian, returning from school/church/work/civic event, emergency, or interstate travel. Whitehall, Bexley, and Reynoldsburg have similar curfews. Violations result in the juvenile being returned home and parents may be cited. Third offenses can result in Franklin County Juvenile Court proceedings.
Juvenile: unruly child complaint in Juvenile Court. Parents of repeat offenders: 100-250 dollar fine or parenting class requirement. Curfew violations typically do not result in arrest for first offense.
