City of Austin repealed its juvenile curfew in 2017 following federal court scrutiny of similar ordinances. Unincorporated Travis County has no general juvenile curfew. Some suburban cities (Pflugerville, Cedar Park) maintain curfews.
Austin City Council repealed Code ยง9-4-11 (juvenile curfew) effective May 2017. Austin Police may no longer cite minors solely for being out after hours. Texas Family Code ยง51.03 still lists curfew violations as status offenses where local curfews exist. Pflugerville (northeast Travis County) maintains a curfew for minors under 17 from 11 PM-6 AM Sunday-Thursday and midnight-6 AM Friday-Saturday, with exemptions for work, school events, and accompanied minors. Local TABC rules prohibit minors in bars after 9 PM regardless of curfew status.
