Chattanooga's curfew bars minors from public streets, parks, and other public places at night. Older teens (17) must be home by 11 p.m. weekdays and midnight weekends; those 16 and under by 10 p.m. weekdays and 11 p.m. weekends.
Chattanooga City Code Sec. 25-2 makes it unlawful for a minor aged 17 to remain in any public street, park, vacant lot, or public place within the county from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Thursday, and from midnight to 6 a.m. Friday through Sunday. Minors 16 and under face a stricter curfew of 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. on weekdays and 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. on weekends. Exceptions cover minors accompanied by a parent or authorized adult, lawful employment (with written proof), errands until 12:30 a.m., emergencies, and protected First Amendment activity with prior notice. Parents who knowingly allow a violation are also liable. This ordinance is enforced by Chattanooga and Hamilton County.
A parent or guardian who knowingly permits a violation may be fined no more than $50 per offense in Chattanooga City Court. A minor may be taken to a curfew center or summoned to Hamilton County Juvenile Court.
