Del Norte County Code Title 12, Chapter 10, Section 30 sets park rules. Day-use reservation of picnic areas at Ruby Van Deventer and Florence Keller parks is limited to 'daylight hours' (sunrise to sunset). Campsites must be vacated by 11:00 a.m., with stay-length caps.
Adopted by the Board of Supervisors in 2022, Title 12 (Roads, Parks and Waterways), Chapter 10 (Parks), Section 30 (Reservations; Length of Stay) governs the County's three campground parks: Clifford Kamph Memorial Park, Ruby Van Deventer County Park, and Florence Keller Regional Park. The ordinance states: 'The picnic areas at Ruby Van Deventer County Park and Florence Keller Regional Park may be reserved in advance for exclusive use during daylight hours. "Daylight hours" means the hours between sunrise and sunset.' For camping, 'All overnight campsites are available on a first come, first served basis. Campsites must be vacated by 11:00 a.m. unless payment is made for an additional night.' The ordinance also caps length of stay: 'No person may stay in a single park in excess of seven nights during any 30-day period. No person may stay in excess of 21 nights combined in all county parks in any 30-day period. No person may stay in excess of 90 nights combined in all county parks within a single calendar year.' Camping is $20 per night (includes two vehicles), $5 per additional vehicle. Note that nearby Del Norte Coast Redwoods State Park and Jedediah Smith Redwoods are state parks with their own separate rules.
The County Parks Department (707-464-7230) administers these rules; campers exceeding stay limits or remaining in day-use areas after sunset, or not vacating campsites by 11:00 a.m. without paying, are subject to removal and Code Enforcement under Title 12, Chapter 10.
