Buffalo Green Code requires a clear sight triangle at all street intersections. Fences, walls, and vegetation cannot exceed 30 inches in height within 25 feet of the corner. Violations require immediate correction or face daily fines.
The Buffalo Unified Development Ordinance (Green Code) Section 8.3 requires a visibility triangle at every street intersection and at driveways in high-traffic areas. No fence, wall, hedge, sign, or other obstruction may exceed 30 inches in height within 25 feet of the intersection of two street curblines, measured along each curb. This rule protects pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers given Buffalo dense urban grid and the high proportion of corner lots in neighborhoods like the Elmwood Village and Cold Spring. Alleys and driveways intersecting arterials have a smaller 10-foot visibility triangle. Violations are enforced by the Department of Permit and Inspection Services with orders to cut back vegetation or remove fencing. Persistent violations face fines up to $250 per day.
Notice to correct within 10 days. Continued violation: up to $250 per day until resolved.
