Saratoga County municipalities require clear sight triangles at intersections. Fences and vegetation limited to 30-36 inches within triangles to preserve driver visibility.
Saratoga Springs City Code Section 240-14 requires a 25-foot sight triangle at corner lots with a 30-inch maximum height for fences, walls, shrubs, and signs. Clifton Park (Section 208-63) uses a 30-foot triangle with 36-inch maximum. Halfmoon, Wilton, Malta, and Ballston Spa follow similar 25-30 foot triangle standards. Sight triangles are measured from curb intersections along each street frontage. NY Vehicle and Traffic Law Section 1660 allows county and municipal highway superintendents to order removal of sight-obstruction hazards on county roads (Route 9, 9N, 50, etc.). Violations often cited after accidents.
Saratoga Springs: $100-$500 plus removal order. Clifton Park: up to $350 per day of continuing violation. Failure to comply after order can result in municipal abatement with lien against property.
