Lima requires every fence to be structurally sound, installed workmanlike from standard fence materials acceptable to the City Engineer, attractively finished on both sides, and kept in good condition, with the ground to the property line maintained under Ordinance 1262.02(E).
Section 1262.02(E) sets the upkeep standard for any permitted fence in Lima. The fence must be maintained in good condition, be structurally sound, and be installed in a workmanlike manner using materials normally used in fence construction and acceptable to the City Engineer. It must be attractively finished on both sides at all times, and the ground between the fence and the property line must be maintained. Fences must also stay within the height limits of subsections (A)-(C) and not obstruct vehicular vision under subsection (D). Barrier requirements for pools, spas and hot tubs are folded in under subsection (G).
A dilapidated, poorly built or unfinished fence violates Section 1262.02(E); the City may order repair, refinishing or removal, with zoning penalties under Chapter 1242.
