Lubbock requires a clear sight triangle of 25 by 25 feet at corner lot intersections. Fences, walls, and landscaping over 3 feet are prohibited inside the triangle.
The sight triangle is measured from the intersection of the curb lines or property lines at a street corner and extending 25 feet along each street. Within that area, nothing over 3 feet in height (measured from street grade) may obstruct the view of drivers and pedestrians. This includes solid fences, masonry walls, hedges, and signage. Open-style fences (picket, wrought iron) may be permitted above 3 feet only if they provide meaningful see-through visibility. Violations are pursued by Code Enforcement and often arise from new hedges or fences installed without thinking about the sight line.
Code Enforcement notice to remove or reduce height. Noncompliance can lead to citation and abatement.
