Winter Park enforces a sight triangle at corner lots: no fence, wall, hedge, or obstruction over 30 inches tall within 25 feet of the intersection of street right-of-ways, per Land Development Code Chapter 58.
The sight triangle rule protects driver and pedestrian visibility at intersections, especially important given Winter Park's narrow streets and frequent pedestrian activity around Park Avenue and Rollins College. The 25-foot triangle is measured from the intersection of the curb lines (or edge of pavement if no curb). Trees with canopies above 8 feet are generally exempt as long as trunks do not obstruct. Driveway sight triangles (10 feet) also apply. HOA covenants may impose even stricter limits in gated communities.
$250 fine plus required removal or trimming within 10 days. Continuing violations $50/day. Accidents caused by obstructed sight lines may expose the property owner to civil liability.
