Cobb County Building Division β fence permits required for solid fences exceeding 6 feet. Pool barriers require permits. Applications through Cobb County Building Permits online portal.
Cobb County requires building permits for solid fences exceeding 6 feet in height and for all pool barriers. Permit applications are submitted through the Cobb County Building Permits Division (1150 Powder Springs St, Marietta, GA). Fences must comply with height and setback requirements under Β§134-267 and Β§134-263. Properties near stream buffers (25-foot undisturbed Georgia buffer along state waters) cannot install solid fencing within the buffer zone. Cities within Cobb County (Marietta, Smyrna, Kennesaw, Acworth) have their own permit requirements that supersede county rules.
Building without permit: $200 to $500. May require removal and re-permitting. Stop-work orders possible.
