Section 18-116(b) adopts the 2018 International Residential Code and expressly adopts Appendix G, Swimming Pools, Spas and Hot Tubs. Appendix G section AG105.2 sets the barrier at 48 inches above grade on the side facing away from the pool, limits ground clearance to two inches, and blocks openings that pass a four-inch sphere. Chapter 90 separately adopts the 1985 Standard Swimming Pool Code for pool construction. Texas Health and Safety Code Chapter 757 governs multiunit rental and property owners association pools and leaves single-family backyard pools to the building code. A residential swimming pool permit costs $200.
