Frisco does not require a standalone home-occupation permit but does require a Certificate of Occupancy or business registration and compliance with zoning Section on accessory uses. No external signage, no non-resident employees, no customer traffic that disrupts the neighborhood, and no outside storage.
Frisco Zoning Ordinance allows home occupations as accessory uses in all residential districts when secondary to the dwelling. Business must be conducted entirely within the main structure (garages allowed if no customer access). Prohibited uses include auto repair, welding, kennels, medical/dental offices, and any use generating noise, odor, vibration, or traffic beyond a typical residence. Frisco requires a home-based business to register for a Sales Tax Permit with the Texas Comptroller if selling taxable goods, and obtain a City of Frisco business certificate if state licensing applies. Deliveries by vehicles larger than standard package carriers are prohibited.
Operating a prohibited use or generating customer traffic: code citation up to $500 per day. Repeat violations trigger zoning enforcement and potential injunction.
