Frisco has adopted the 2021 International Residential Code and International Fire Code. Smoke alarms are required inside each bedroom, in hallways serving bedrooms, and on every floor including basements. Homes built or substantially remodeled must have hardwired interconnected alarms with battery backup. Texas Property Code Chapter 92 requires landlords to install and maintain smoke alarms in all rental units.
Landlord failure: tenant can terminate lease plus statutory damages. Code violation: up to 2,000 dollars per day.
