LDC §14-6-7 allows 'standard home occupations' in residential dwellings if conducted entirely within the home, operated only by residents (no employees), occupying no more than 10% of the ground floor, with no client visits except a 2-student tutoring exception and family day care.
§14-6-7(A) sets 14 standards for standard home occupations: (1) conducted entirely within residential or accessory structure by a resident only — no non-family employees; (2) no more than 10% of ground floor; (3) no advertising signs on premises; (4) no equipment creating noise/vibration/odor/electrical interference beyond property line; (5) no retail/wholesale on premises; (6) no customer-present service work; (7) no exterior alterations; (8) commercial vehicle rules from Ch. 42 Art. III apply; (9) ten vehicle trips per day max (20 for family day care); (10) maximum two deliveries per day excluding USPS; (11) address cannot be advertised publicly; (12) no outdoor storage; (13) BTR (business tax receipt) designated as 'home occupational license'; (14) Fire Dept and Building Division inspect family day care homes. Family day care is permitted by F.S. §402.302(8) child count.
BTR-related violations: Sec. 1-22(b)(11) — $250. Zoning violation: Sec. 1-22(b)(12) — $250. Repeated noise/traffic complaints can lead to BTR revocation under §14-6-7(A)(13).
