Jupiter, FL Invasive Plant Rules: Bamboo Restrictions (2026)

Palm Beach County's primary invasive plant regulations focus on nine specific nonnative invasive plant species identified in Articles 14.C and 14.D of the Unified Land Development Code. While bamboo is not among the nine specifically prohibited species, certain aggressive running bamboo varieties can create nuisance conditions. Under Florida law, property owners may be held liable for vegetation that damages neighboring properties under nuisance theories. If running bamboo spreads onto neighboring property or creates blight, it can be addressed through code compliance as a property maintenance violation.
