Denton County, TX Landscaping Rules: Water Restrictions (2026)

Water restrictions in Denton County depend on your water provider, not the county itself. Denton County does not have countywide water restriction authority. Major water providers include the Upper Trinity Regional Water District (serving Lewisville, Flower Mound, Lake Cities), the City of Denton utilities, Mustang Special Utility District, Bolivar Water Supply Corporation, and numerous smaller systems. Most providers follow the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality model drought contingency plan with four stages. Stage 1 typically limits landscape watering to twice per week on designated days.
