Burlington operates the Greenride Bikeshare system (e-bikes since 2020) under city-vendor agreement and has piloted shared e-scooters; riders must use designated parking corrals downtown and follow the same traffic rules as bicycles.
Greenride Bikeshare, run in partnership with regional sponsors, offers app-based rentals at fixed stations across downtown, UVM, and waterfront locations. Riders must be 16+, follow VT cycling rules, and dock bikes only at official stations. Sidewalk riding is prohibited downtown in the Church Street Marketplace pedestrian zone. E-scooter pilot programs require parking in marked corrals; abandoned scooters can be impounded. Devices are speed-limited to 15 mph and prohibited on the bike path during peak pedestrian hours under operator policy.
Improper parking $25-$50 corral fee; sidewalk riding ticket $50; impoundment for abandoned vehicles.
