As part of Louisville Metro Government since 2003, Jefferson County follows LMCO Β§ 99.03. Exterior construction within 100 feet of residential property is prohibited from 9 PM to 7 AM. Public right-of-way work for emergency or public-interest purposes is exempt at all times. No separate weekend construction ban exists.
Under LMCO Β§ 99.03, construction and demolition activity is exempt from general noise standards during permitted hours. Work within 100 feet of residential property is restricted to 7 AMβ9 PM. Public right-of-way operations serving the public interest β including street sweeping, debris removal, restoring electrical service, traffic signal repair, snow removal, and repair of water, gas, and sewer lines β are exempt at all hours. Refuse collection is exempt 6 AMβ10 PM. Louisville/Jefferson County does not have a separate weekend-only construction ban. The ordinance was amended by Metro Ordinance No. 186-2019, effective May 30, 2020.
Construction outside permitted hours violates LMCO Chapter 99. Civil penalties: first offense $100β$250, second $250β$500, third $500β$1,000 within 2 years. Code Enforcement may issue stop-work orders.
