Outdoor speakers and commercial sound devices are restricted in Anderson. It is illegal to cast amplified sound onto other properties or the public right-of-way for advertising, and no device may be audible 30 feet away on public property.
Section 94.43(B) prohibits using any sound device whose sound is cast upon other properties or the public right-of-way for commercial advertising or to attract attention to an activity, sale or place, targeting loudspeaker advertising and outdoor promotional audio. Backyard or patio music that disturbs neighbors is a nuisance under Section 94.42, and on public property the 30-foot audibility limit of Section 94.44(A) applies. Permitted parades and festivals, and normal athletic-event sounds, are exempt under Section 94.45.
Fines of at least $175 first offense, $275 second, and $500-$1,000 for later offenses; each day is a separate violation (Code § 94.99).
