Omaha does not impose a blanket overnight street parking ban but enforces a 24-hour continuous parking limit and activates emergency snow routes. Vehicles parked on posted snow routes during snow emergencies are towed.
Omaha Municipal Code Β§36-76 prohibits continuous parking at the same curb location for more than 24 hours; a vehicle must be moved at least one city block. There is no general 2 AM to 6 AM ban. During declared snow emergencies, Omaha activates the Snow Emergency Route system (Chapter 36, Article V) β all vehicles must be removed from posted red-and-white snow routes within 6 hours of declaration or face ticketing and towing. Street-sweeping-based overnight restrictions do not apply in Omaha as they do in some coastal cities. Unincorporated Douglas County has no general overnight parking ban but enforces obstruction-of-roadway rules under NRS Β§60-6,166. Commercial vehicle overnight parking on residential streets is restricted under Omaha Β§36-88. Some private communities and HOAs impose stricter overnight rules by covenant.
72-hour violation (Omaha Β§36-76): $50 citation, vehicle subject to tow after second notice. Snow emergency route violation: $125 citation plus tow costs ($200 to $400+) and daily storage. Obstructing roadway in unincorporated county: NRS violation, $100 fine plus tow.
