Oversized and heavy vehicles are restricted in residential areas by UDC 17.5.1B. Wreckers, buses (other than school buses used mainly to transport children), and trucks and semitrailers with more than two axles and a payload capacity over 3,500 pounds are prohibited from parking on the drive, in the front yard, or adjacent to any lot in the A1, A2, A2.5, A3 or A4 zoning district, or between the street and a house in recognized subdivisions within the R zoning district. The Traffic Code (§ 11:425) adds a 72-hour cap on motor homes, house trailers and 10,000-pound-GVWR commercial vehicles on A1–A4 subdivision streets. Together these keep large rigs out of residential yards and off neighborhood streets for extended periods.
Enforced by the Department of Development and Parking Control; offending vehicles may be cited or towed under the UDC and Title 11.
