Ottawa County sets no oversized-vehicle rule. The City of Holland bans trailers and nonmotorized recreational vehicles from overnight on-street parking, and limits overnight street parking to trucks under two tons; townships defer to the Michigan Vehicle Code.
Rules for oversized vehicles—large trailers, RVs and heavy trucks—are set locally, not by the county. Under City of Holland Code Sec. 18-27, there is no overnight on-street parking of trailers or nonmotorized recreational vehicles between the sidewalk lines of any street, and only trucks not over two tons may park overnight during the summer window. Townships such as Georgetown require RVs and trailers to be stored behind the front face of the home. For weight, width and length limits on public roads, the Michigan Vehicle Code and the Ottawa County Road Commission govern. Check your municipality's zoning ordinance for residential storage limits.
Local civil infraction; oversized vehicles parked on the street overnight or improperly stored may be ticketed by the city or township and towed if not moved.
