Rancho Cordova, CA Parking Rules: Oversized Vehicle Parking (2026)

Sacramento County does not publish a single 'oversized vehicle' ordinance; oversized units are governed by several provisions. On the street, County Code Section 10.24.070 prohibits parking any motor home, trailer coach, or truck and camper for more than 72 hours on a highway in a residential district, and bars moving-and-re-parking within 300 feet to reset the limit. For heavy commercial or work vehicles, the County Zoning Code (cited by Code Enforcement as SCC 3.2.5 / Table 3.2(N)) prohibits parking any motor vehicle or equipment used for commercial purposes with a manufacturer's gross vehicle weight rating of 10,000 pounds or more in a residential zone, except while actively loading, unloading, or rendering a service. On private residential property, large recreational vehicles, boats, and trailers must be parked on a surfaced area outside the required landscaped yard under Section 5.2.4.C.6. Posted signs and curb markings under Section 10.24.010 can add location-specific limits. Where the County has not adopted a local rule, the California Vehicle Code (including size/weight and posted-limit provisions) applies on County roads.
