Oklahoma is a one-party consent state under the Security of Communications Act (13 O.S. Section 176.4). Only one participant in a conversation needs to consent to recording. Wiretapping without any party's consent is a felony.
Oklahoma is a one-party consent state for recording conversations. Under the Oklahoma Security of Communications Act (13 O.S. Section 176.2-176.6), a person may record a conversation as long as at least one party consents. This means you can legally record your own phone calls, in-person conversations, and video communications without notifying the other party, as long as you are a participant. Interception of communications without any party's consent (wiretapping/eavesdropping) is a felony under 13 O.S. Section 176.3, punishable by up to 5 years in prison and/or a $5,000 fine. Oklahoma law also prohibits recording in places where someone has a reasonable expectation of privacy, such as bathrooms, changing rooms, and bedrooms, under the Peeping Tom statute (21 O.S. Section 1171). Video recording in public places without audio does not require consent. When recording calls with parties in other states, the stricter state's law may apply.
Wiretapping: felony, up to 5 years prison, $5,000 fine. Peeping Tom violations: felony, up to 5 years prison.
