Corona Municipal Code Chapter 8.16 requires residential trash, recycling, and green waste carts to be stored out of public view (in side yards, garages, or behind screening) except on collection day. Carts may be placed at the curb no earlier than 6:00 PM the evening before pickup and must be removed by the end of collection day.
Corona Municipal Code Chapter 8.16 (Solid Waste) and the property maintenance standards in Chapter 17 govern trash cart storage and placement. Residential properties must store all solid waste, recycling, and organic waste carts so that they are not visible from any public street or sidewalk on non-collection days. Acceptable storage locations include inside the garage, in a side yard behind a fence or gate, behind a wall or screening at least as tall as the carts, or in another approved location not visible from the right-of-way. Carts may be placed at the curb no earlier than 6:00 PM on the evening before collection and must be removed from the curb by 7:00 AM the day after collection. Carts placed at the curb must be at least 3 feet from any obstruction (parked car, mailbox, fire hydrant, utility) and with the lid hinge toward the street. Residents are responsible for keeping carts clean and in good repair; damaged carts are replaced free by Waste Management. Excess trash that does not fit in the cart with the lid closed is not collected; residents can request bulky item pickup or schedule additional service. Code enforcement issues warnings for first violations and citations of $50 to $200 for repeat offenders.
Specific penalty amounts for this ordinance are not published in a publicly accessible fine schedule. Contact Corona code enforcement directly for current fines, enforcement procedures, and hearing options.
