In unincorporated Jefferson Parish, all household garbage must be bagged inside the parish-provided 95-gallon tipper cart. Carts may not go out before 4 p.m. the day before collection and must be pulled back from the curb by noon the day after.
Jefferson Parish provides each residential unit a 95-gallon tipper cart at no charge and collects containerized household garbage twice per week. All household garbage must be bagged and placed within the cart. The cart may not be set out any sooner than 4 p.m. on the day preceding your regular collection day, and the emptied cart must be removed from the curb by noon on the day immediately following collection. Leaving carts out early or storing them at the curb between pickups is a code violation. These rules apply to residential structures of four units or fewer in the unincorporated parish under Chapter 16 (Garbage and Other Solid Waste).
Code Compliance citation for early set-out or carts left at curb; repeat violations can bring fines.
